My SC memory is...
Playing in SC’s orchestra for almost 50 years. First as a high school student, then as a college student, an adult and now as a retired person. I’ve loved every minute of it!

The 50th class reunion for the Class of 1963 is my memory. We had 37 classmates who gathered during the 2013 Homecoming weekend to renew old friendships. What fun!

My SC memory is meeting my husband (Jon Brown '64) at SC in 1962, attending a formal with him and dancing to the Dorsey Band. Our first dance was in the Student Center, dancing to "Moon River". We will celebrate our 50th anniversary on Dec. 29, 2013, in Overbrook, Kansas.

The Class of ’63 reunion committee did a marvelous job of hosting our 50-year reunion. What fun to renew friendships and share memories of SC. One of my favorite memories is the semester (second semester, junior year) that I spent in Vienna, Austria, as part of an International Student Exchange. That was quite a jump for this naïve, farm girl. Another memory is the telegram I received while in Vienna: “Congratulations. You are next year’s dorm president.” I thought I knew who instigated that election and found out at the 50-year reunion that I was wrong, so I still don’t know whose idea that was! Anybody willing to confess at this late date?

I look back at my time at SC with so many happy times in the music department -- the choir tours; the bonding of music majors as we spent hours in the practice rooms; giving up lunch or eating very quickly to make it to Dr. Wooldridge's a cappella choir rehearsals; being part of band, orchestra, and choir and playing in the band at the sporting events. The small size of SC allowed us to participate in such a variety of activities.
