Outstanding Student Athletes Named at Southwestern College

Andrew Topham, Peabody, and Kaydee Johnson, Winfield, were named the 2011 Outstanding Student-Athlete Award winners at Southwestern College.  The ceremony took place Monday, May 2, in Stewart Field House.

The outstanding student-athlete award is given in memory of Tracy Young by Bill and Georgianna Young.  Tracy was in the class of 1982. 

The award is presented to the top senior female and male student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional performance in athletics, academics, leadership, and college and community service.

Topham is a biochemistry major.  He was a NAIA All-American scholar athlete in 2009 and 2010 in cross-country and NAIA All-American scholar athlete in 2010 and 2011 in track and field.  He was named KCAC Cross-Country Runner of the Week nine times and KCAC Track Athlete of the Week once.

Johnson is a business major.  She is the KCAC NAIA Dr. Leroy Walker Champions of Character Award recipient.  She has been an NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete twice, a Southwestern College Presidential Scholar, Kansas State Scholar, Student Government Senator of the Month, Southwestern College Senior Class President, a member of Leadership Southwestern, and a volunteer for children’s church at First United Methodist Church in Winfield.
