Event for Displaced Workers Happening at SC Professional Studies

Southwestern College Professional Studies is hosting a free event geared toward displaced workers Saturday, May 2, beginning at 9 a.m. at the east side location at 2040 S. Rock Road.  The event is titled “Developing Workforce Talent.”
“As the economy has tumbled, our neighbors, and our community have been impacted,” says Karen Pedersen, vice president for Southwestern College Professional Studies.  “It’s our core mission at Professional Studies, through education, to help adult learners.  That’s what this event is all about.  If you need to dust off your resume, polish your interviewing skills or transform your career path, this event is perfect.”
Three seminars will be featured during the event:
• Online job searching and internet safety
• Resume updating
• How to interview
Each session will be given three times: 9:30-10 a.m., 10:30-11 a.m., and 11:30-noon.
Other information will available such as how to afford college, testing an online course from Southwestern College, and information about other Southwestern College Professional Studies programs. Refreshments will be served and all interested attendees will be able to sign up to take the first night of the “Developing Workforce Talent” course for free.
For more information about the event, call (316) 684-5335.
