Greenhouse to Host Orchid Open House April 4
Southwestern College invites the community to experience the beauty of its orchid collection during a special Open Greenhouse Event on Saturday, April 4, from 2–4 p.m. The event will be held in the Southwestern College Greenhouse, where visitors can explore one of the campus’s most colorful seasonal displays.
Many of the greenhouse’s orchids are currently in peak bloom, offering guests a chance to see a wide variety of vibrant colors, unique shapes, and delicate fragrances. The collection includes numerous species and hybrid orchids cultivated by Southwestern College faculty.
The open house is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to stop by, stroll through the greenhouse, and learn more about the plants that thrive in this carefully maintained environment.
“This is a wonderful time of year in the greenhouse,” said Max Thompson, Professor and Greenhouse Supervisor. “With so many orchids in bloom, it’s a perfect opportunity for the community to see the collection and enjoy a bit of spring on campus.”
The Southwestern College Greenhouse provides hands-on learning opportunities for students in the natural sciences and serves as a space for plant conservation and community engagement.
