DECA Team Excels at International Competition in San Francisco

The Southwestern College Builder DECA team recently returned from San Francisco, Calif., where they competed at the Collegiate DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC), held April 5–9. Four students represented the college on the international stage, competing among top collegiate talent from across the globe.

Team members Hannah Brown, Jaylen Davis, Kudzaiishe Busu, and Kier Masso participated in individual and team events that challenged their problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills in real-world business scenarios.

  • Jaylen Davis and Kier Masso earned national honors, placing 5th in the country in the Business-to-Business Marketing case study competition.
  • Hannah Brown placed 11th nationally for her strong performance in the Sales Leadership event.
  • Kudzaiishe Busu competed in the Financial Accounting category, demonstrating proficiency in financial concepts and analysis.

Collegiate DECA offers students a chance to compete in over 25 different events related to marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. These competitions are evaluated by business and industry professionals, providing students with valuable career experience and networking opportunities.

DECA (formerly Distributive Education Clubs of America) is a nonprofit student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs. Its collegiate division supports student success through conferences, competition, and career development experiences.
