The Southwestern College financial aid office will hold a community event to help students and families with their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The event is on Saturday, March 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the community room at the Winfield Public Library.  There is no admission charge to attend. 

The financial aid team will help people complete their FAFSA and will be able to answer general financial aid questions. 

“We are asking community members to bring their tablet or laptop to complete the FAFSA or create their studentaid.gov ID,” says Randi Whalen, financial aid counselor at Southwestern College.  “We are targeting learners from all populations, including high school juniors and seniors and their families, adult learners who are in school or thinking about going back, learners who are considering online or main campus classes, and military.”

Whalen says that the goal of this event is to reach out to not only families in Winfield, but to surrounding communities that may not have access to local college resources like Winfield and Arkansas City do.
