Garnita Pleas, founder of Rev. Dr. Garnita Pleas Ministries, will lead “Builder Sisters - We Have Your Back! A Young Women Empowering Event,” on Friday, April 14, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., in Southwestern College’s Wroten Hall.

Pleas, an adjunct professor at Southwestern College, say the campus students will be doing several activities about empowering themselves and each other, self-esteem, and mental health.

“We all need to be empowered,” Pleas says.  “We all have something to contribute; working to teach the young ladies that through trials and tribulations, they will always be enough.”

According to Pleas, she was approached by several students to help bring the young ladies on campus together to not only get to know each other, but to hopefully form a bond. The event is free for students at Southwestern College.
