Cultural Cuisine and Art Show at Southwestern College April 14
InterAct, a student organization that integrates international students with domestic students through sharing cultural experiences and knowledge, and the international student office at Southwestern College are hosting the Cultural Cuisine and Art Show on Sunday, April 14, from 5 to 7 p.m., in Stewart Field House. Admission is $5 for community members (cash only) and free for SC students and children under three years old. Anyone who brings a dish that will serve 100 people may also attend for free.
According to Elyse Achenbach, coordinator of international student services and enrollment at Southwestern College, this is InterAct’s annual event to promote intercultural communication.
“They aim to teach the community about their home countries and culture through food, and this year through art as well,” Achenbach says.
The Cultural Cuisine event has been an annual event at Southwestern College for almost 20 years. This year, there will be dishes from Spain, Brazil, Germany, China, and many others.
“Anyone can bring a dish as well so long as it is portioned into sample sizes for others to enjoy,” Achenbach says. “Only non-American students and community members can display art at the event. Anyone interested in bringing a dish should contact me.”
