SC Music Department to Present Two Concerts

The Southwestern College music department will present two concerts in the Richardson Performing Arts Center.

On Saturday, April 21, A Cappella Choir, Chamber Singers, and Southwestern College Choral Union will be featured in the Lux Aeterna spring choral concert. Selections include Faure’s “Requiem,” Elgar’s “Lux Aeterna,” and a commissioned piece, “Sinner Man,” arranged by Stephen Butler, instructor of music theory at Southwestern. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m., and there is no admission charge.

On Friday, April 27, a night of contemporary pop and musical theatre will be presented. The concert will be led by the SC Musical Theatre Ensemble, Broadway Builders, and SC Singers, and will feature the music of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. It will also include contemporary pop medleys and hits by artists such as Beyonce, Shai, and Pentatonix. The concert will begin at 7 p.m., and there is no admission charge.

“This is always a wonderful night featuring the growth of all SC vocal students over the course of this semester, with powerful belting, beat-boxing, and tight harmony,” says Brian Winnie, director of choral activities and voice at Southwestern College.
