Near Record Freshman Class Reports to Southwestern College
President Brad Andrews reports that as of Friday, Aug. 12, Southwestern College had welcomed 174 freshmen to campus. The class ranks as the second largest in the past 25 years. Over the weekend, 50 transfer students also moved onto the campus, as well as returning athletes. Andrews notes that "the size of this year's freshman class is an affirmation of the great value a Southwestern College education provides."
Andrews says that there wasn’t any secret ingredient behind this year’s recruitment results.
“The success is largely attributable to the good work, day in and day out, of the staff and faculty at Southwestern,” Andrews says. “We continue to work hard to bring students and families to visit campus, where it becomes quite obvious what a wonderful and rewarding place this is to spend their college years."
President Andrews emphasized the strength of the relationship between the town and the college.
“Prospective students and parents from across Kansas, and the Midwest, have visited campus, fallen in love with Winfield, and become enamored with the college,” says Andrews. “I attribute the great success of this year's recruitment efforts directly to the wonderful, caring, hard-working, high-character people of Winfield and Southwestern College."
