The Southwestern College athletic department and SC student life would like to invite all active duty military and veterans to Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, Jan. 23, as the Southwestern College men’s and women’s basketball teams host the University of Saint Mary. The women’s game will begin at 3 p.m., and the men at 5 p.m., inside historic Stewart Field House.

All active duty military and veterans will be admitted free to the games and will receive a t-shirt. Participants will be recognized immediately before the men’s game tips off.

Interim assistant athletic director Scott Nuss says that he has been in contact with McConnell Air Force Base, area National Guard, and VFW and American Legion posts in Cowley County.  

“We recognize a lot of people throughout the season, but we often forget about those who serve and protect us on a daily basis,” Nuss says.  “I hope our military and veterans will accept our invitation, and support us while we recognize them for their service."
