Southwestern College Choral Union to Present Concert August 22
The Southwestern College Choral Union will present its inaugural Summer Sing concert, “A Heart’s Memory,” by the Summer Women’s Choir on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 7:30 p.m., in the Richardson Performing Arts Center. The admission charge is $10 for adults and free for students and children.
“From being a child, to having a child, and to always listening to our inner child, the circle of our lives is never-ending,” says director Brian Winnie. “This concert will feature an array of repertoire that reminds us of the journey and circle of life; may we never forget.”
Featured selections include Eric Whitacre’s “Seal Lullaby,” Nick Page’s “Niska Banja,” an arrangement of “Will the Circle Be Unbroken,” and more. This concert will also feature soloists performing “Children Will Listen” from “Into the Woods”; “You Raise Me Up,” and Winfield small ensemble Harmony Bound.
“We hope the community will come celebrate the joy of women’s choral music, the close of our summer season, and the Welcome Back weekend at SC,” Winnie says.
Winnie also wants to remind interested singers about the upcoming fall rehearsal season, “I’ll Be Home,” which begins Tuesday, Sept. 8, 7-9 p.m. All singers ages 16 and older are welcome to the sessions in Darbeth Rehearsal Hall, and there will be open rehearsals throughout the month of September. For more details and to schedule a voice hearing, contact Winnie at (620) 229-6302 or by email at brian.winnie@sckans.edu.
