The Southwestern College football team is hosting a fundraising cookout for Alex Hutchins on Friday, Sept. 2, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the Farney Family Plaza just south of Jantz Stadium.  The Winfield High School football team will open its season against Augusta that evening at 7 p.m. Hutchins is a Winfield High School and Southwestern College graduate.

For a suggested minimum donation of $5, fans will receive a hamburger, chips, and a drink. All proceeds will go toward Hutchins and his battle with cancer.

Southwestern College head football coach Ken Crandall and his coaching staff along with members of the SC football team will be cooking and serving the meal.

“We just want to help out the Hutchins family to offset the hospital costs incurred for this horrible disease,” Crandall says. “I also want to thank Coca-Cola, Sodexo, and Creekstone for their support of this event for Alex.”
