Yakja Hona: Experience Pakistan on the Plains is a cultural arts project created to encourage exchange and exploration between rural Kansas and Pakistan featuring the Switchgrass String Quartet (Ramiro Miranda, violin, John Harrison, violin, Tim Snider, viola, and Susan Mayo, cello) and the Multifarious Trio (Susan Mayo, cello, Courtney Long, saxophone, and Tim Snider, violin/guitar.)

Experience the sounds and sights of Pakistan blended with the prairie. Live and recorded original music and film combining tastes of both worlds.
The Urdu word Yakja Hona means forgathering - to gather together; convene, assemble, congregate, consolidate, or unify.
Susan Mayo received a Kansas Arts Commission grant to travel to Pakistan, explore, compose, and record original music with Pakistani musicians, and will now share that adventure with Cowley County!
This cultural arts program is sponsored by Southwestern College, South Kansas Symphony, Kansas Arts Commission, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
