Inauguration of Elizabeth Frombgen

The inauguration of Southwestern College President Elizabeth Frombgen will be on Saturday, April 22, at 3 p.m., in the Richardson Performing Arts Center.  The public is invited to attend and there is no admission charge.

Frombgen is the 20th president in the college's 138-year history.  Prior to coming to SC, Frombgen was vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa., Frombgen earned her Ph.D. and master of arts degree in political science from Purdue University and her bachelor of arts degree from Western Washington University. She was on faculty at Hastings College from 2001 to 2012, serving as a professor and department chair before accepting the role of associate vice president for academic affairs, a position she held until 2017 when she accepted the position at Thiel. Frombgen began work at Southwestern College in the summer of 2022.

Her formal installation as president will be the culmination of a busy Founders Weekend at the college. Please find a full schedule of the 2023 Hall of Fame events at www.sckans.edu/hof. Additionally, in recognition of the special weekend, an exhibit of works by former Southwestern faculty and artist, Grace Raymond, will be on display in the Presidents Gallery in Darbeth Fine Arts Building. The gallery will be open for viewing Friday, April 21 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A reception for Frombgen will be held at 4 p.m., in the Christy Administration Building Lobby, and on the 77 Steps.
