OPEN MIC SPOKEN WORD/POETRY SLAM

Bring your voice and your words—win prizes!  Poets, storytellers, and musicians are invited to perform at this open mic event on Wednesday, December 4 in the Helen Graham Little Theatre at 7 pm.  Prizes (cash and gift cards) will be awarded in several categories, including storytelling, rap, use of music and words, originality, interpretive performance, humor, heartstrings, and others.  Students from the Poetry class and the Creativity in the Arts class will be performing; anyone on campus is invited to join the competition.  Spoken word performance encompasses poetry, rap, hip-hop, storytelling, theater, jazz, rock, blues, and folk music. With the exception of interpretive performance, all entries should be original work.
