Ella WiechmanAmbassador Profile: Ella Wiechman

Why did you choose SC?

While I originally heard about SC through the current soccer coach, it was the strong science program, the opportunity to be a part of the leadership team, and the tight-knit community that ultimately brought me here. I vividly remember my first campus tour here walking around with my tour guide. There wasn't a staff member we passed that didn't stop and greet her by name. I knew I wanted to go to a school where my professors truly cared about me and my success.

Ella Wiechman 1What are your interests and hobbies?

Since being at SC, my roommates and I have gotten really into pickleball and go play at the courts in Winfield any chance we get (we like to think we started the trend on campus)! I also am involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters, so I love hanging out with my little whenever we get the chance. On campus, I am involved in the leadership team and the women's soccer team. I am also a student ambassador and am the president of our Pre-Health Professionals (PHP) club.

What has surprised you about SC?

Before coming here, I was nervous about the school feeling too small and there not being enough to do in Winfield. Instead, I have come to love the small community feel that SC has. Everywhere I go on campus there is somebody who knows my name and is genuinely invested in my life. I have also come to really love the vibe of the Winfield community.

Ella Wiechman 2Which professor has been your favorite?

While I have absolutely loved all my professors here at SC, I would say Dr. McEwen is my favorite. She is my person here at SC. There is rarely a day that goes by that I haven't ended up in her office to ask for some advice or just to chat about our days.

I know I'm at SC when...

I'm having coffee with my friends on the porch of College Hill.

Ella Wiechman 3What would surprise your high school friends about you now?

I think my high school friends would not believe how much I love the small community of SC!
