Nine Lives Entertaining Saturday Nights in June

Saturday evenings in June have come alive with laughter as current members and alumni of Southwestern College’s Nine Lives Laughatorium and Good Times Improvisational Comedy Troupe perform at the Marquee building (former Winfield Cinema) located at 1007 Main St.  Performance times are at 7 and 9 p.m. and there are two more Saturday nights to watch; June 19, and 26.  The 7 p.m. show will be more family oriented while the 9 p.m. show will be designed for a more mature audience.

Performers include Tabatha McMullen, Belle Plaine; Tommy Castor, Clearwater; Cody Davis, Montrose, Colo.; Jordy Train, Lindsborg; and Brett Smith, Derby.  Nine Lives apprentices Caitlynn French, Derby; and Marilyn Craft, Augusta, will also be in the show along with various Nine Lives alumni. The troupe is under the direction of Allyson Moon.

“Every Saturday we will have a different theme format,” Moon says.  “It will range from Improv Olympics to summer fun.  This Saturday night, our theme is Monster Mash.”

The shows will raise money for Marquee, Inc., a non-profit group in Winfield that hopes to restore and renovate the former Winfield Cinema building.  Their goal is to provide downtown Winfield with a quality venue for entertainment, education, the arts, and community and cultural events for south central Kansas.

The performances last about an hour and each is unique.

“We will be doing the show in the lobby which gives it a cabaret feel,” Moon says.  “Look forward to lots of troupe and audience interaction.”

Marquee, Inc. will be selling popcorn, soft drinks, and other concessions.
All tickets will be sold the evening of the performances. Doors will open 45 minutes prior to show time.  Admission is $5 per person.  All proceeds go to Marquee, Inc.  For more information about Nine Lives or Marquee, Inc., call (620) 229-6328.
