Budi Taniwan Senior Recital April 28
Southwestern College will host the senior recital for Budi Taniwan, an international student from Jakarta, Indonesia. The recital will take place Wednesday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. in Messenger Recital Hall in the Darbeth Fine Arts Center on the campus of Southwestern College. A senior double-majoring in music and philosophy and religion, Taniwan will be singing several numbers and will also perform a piece on cello. There is no admission charge.
Taniwan will sing the opera arias “Votre toast” from Bizet’s “Carmen” and “Non piu andrai” from Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” and Gerald Finzi’s Shakespearean song cycle “Let Us Garlands Bring” as well as pieces by Franz Schubert and Claude Debussy. Taniwan will also perform the Adagio from Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 by Edward Elgar.
Taniwan is a student of Sarah Stevens, David Gardner, and Quinn Lake (cello). This recital is in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the bachelor of arts in music degree. A simple reception will follow the recital.
