Southwestern College will have a fall preview of its Jazz Combo on Friday, Nov. 21, at College Hill Coffee from 8 to 10 p.m. The first half of the evening will feature the Jazz Combo playing traditional jazz standards. The second half will feature the duet of Josh Fleig, instrumental professor at Cowley County Community College, and Mike Jones, assistant professor of music at Southwestern College.

Then, on Monday, Nov. 24, the SC music department will be hosting a concert at 7:30 p.m. in Messenger Recital Hall in the Darbeth Fine Arts Center. There is no admission charge. The jazz combo will open, followed by the SC Regional Big Band.  The Big Band will perform a variety of jazz literature including Swing, Latin, and Afro Cuban pieces. Also in the program is the debut of John Coltrane’s “Crescent” arranged by local jazz aficionado and resident pianist Scott Williams.
