Stevens to Present Chamber Music Recital of Viola Music

Daniel Stevens, assistant professor of music and Mazie Barnett Kilmer Chair for string education at Southwestern College, will present a chamber recital on Monday, Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m., in Messenger Recital Hall.

Stevens will be joined by his brother, violist Phillip Stevens, a musician with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and pianist Timothy Shook, professor of music and division chair for performing arts. The trio will perform Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto No. 6;” five movements from Bartok’s “44 duos;” “Rolla’s Duo” for Viola; and Volkmann’s “Schlummerlied.”

This recital is presented in partial fulfillment of Stevens’s doctorate of musical arts degree which he is pursuing at the University of North Texas, Denton. The trio will present the same recital at that campus on Tuesday evening.
