Winfield High School Orchestra and Amanda Li Featured at Upcoming Festival at Southwestern College

Southwestern College and the South Kansas Symphony will host the 4th Annual Honor Orchestra Festival on Tuesday, Jan. 21. The festival will conclude with a 6 p.m. performance in the Richardson Performing Arts Center.  There is no admission charge and the public is invited to attend.

Approximately 70 high school music students will be on campus throughout the day, working with Southwestern College music faculty and students. These nominated students come from Winfield, Arkansas City, Ponca City, Derby, El Dorado, Independence, Wichita, and Goddard.

At 6 p.m., the Honor Orchestra will accompany Amanda Li, the college's new director of choral activities and voice. The concert will also feature this year's guest orchestra from Winfield High School, conducted by Southwestern College alum Ashton Humbert.

“We appreciate The Trust Company of Kansas and Stephen English for sponsoring this concert,” says Amber Peterson, South Kansas Symphony conductor and assistant professor of music at Southwestern College.
