Community Music School Offering Ukulele Camp This Summer

The Community Music School (CMS) at Southwestern College will host ukulele camp during the week of June 4-8 from 1-2 p.m. each day. Classes will be in the Darbeth Rehearsal Hall on Southwestern College’s campus.

The ukulele camp will be under the direction of Nikki Kirk. Kirk is a music educator in the Arkansas City public school district, where she teaches kindergarten through fifth grade general music, and is an active member of NAfME and ACDA.  Kirk also serves as the director of music at the First Presbyterian Church of Winfield.  Kirk is in her 10th  year of teaching and has taught general music, band, and choir in the public schools of Kansas and in her home state of West Virginia, and served as an instructor at Coffeyville Community College.          

The ukulele camp is $30 for current CMS students and $35 for non-CMS students. Participants must be at least eight years old and all participants must have their own ukuleles. Music is provided.
