Bluegrass Band Milltown to Perform with South Kansas Symphony and Southwestern College Youth Symphony
Milltown, a progressive bluegrass band from the Quad Cities (Iowa/Illinois), will be the featured guest artist as Southwestern College celebrates "Music In Our Schools Month" on Sunday, March 6, at 3 p.m., in the Richardson Performing Arts Center located in the Christy Administration Building on the campus of Southwestern College. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $8.
The South Kansas Symphony, conducted by Amber Peterson, and the Southwestern College Youth Symphony, conducted by Jayme Hayes, will present a combined performance. Milltown will perform with the combined symphonies as well as presenting works of their own.
According to Peterson, Milltown has performed with bands such as The Henhouse Prowlers, Head for The Hills, Hot Buttered Rum and the Steep Canyon Rangers, Steve Martin’s band, and Beau Soleil.
The South Kansas Symphony portion of the concert is sponsored by Tom and Mari Wallrabenstein. The Southwestern College Youth Symphony selection is sponsored by Larry and Linda Hahn and is in honor of Richard Brummett. All proceeds for this performance go to support the Southwestern College Youth Symphony.
