Southwestern College Winterfest Concert Dec. 6

The Southwestern College music department will present its annual Winterfest Concert on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 3 p.m., in the Richardson Performing Arts Center.  There is no admission charge and the public is invited to attend.

Southwestern College President Brad Andrews and his wife, Trish, will host the event.  The concert is underwritten by Dick and Joan Jones.

Winterfest is a collaboration between the South Kansas Symphony (SKS), A Cappella Choir, SC Singers, Viking Voices from Winfield High School, and the Southwestern College Choral Union (SCCU).

Featured concert pieces include “A Christmas Hymn (Till Morning is Nigh),” “Beautiful Savior,” “Come Thou Fount,” and gospel arrangements of “Joy to the World,” and “O Holy Night.”

Brian Winnie, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities and voice at Southwestern, will conduct the SCCU, A Cappella Choir, and the combined numbers. Jayme Hayes, Central Burden High School band and choral teacher, will conduct the SKS.

Devices to assist those with hearing problems are available in the box office, and an area is reserved for handicapped patrons and their companions in the rear of the hall.
