12th Annual Symphony on the Prairie Sunday

An afternoon and evening of music and activities in a pastoral setting is planned for Sunday, April 27, in the 12th annual presentation of Symphony on the Prairie.

The South Kansas Symphony and the Southwestern College Youth Symphony (both under the direction of Daniel Stevens, director of instrumental activities at Southwestern College), The Student Loans, SC Alternative Strings, Mobius Strip, and Crowsons & Friends will perform on the Dick and Dolly Bonfy Ranch at 24011 141st Rd. in Winfield. Gates will open at 2 p.m. The event is underwritten by the Winfield Convention and Tourism Bureau.

Numerous vendors will be selling various food and other goods. 

The evening will also feature a drawing to win one of two Google Nexus Tablets. Entry forms will be distributed at the gates until 6:45 p.m. and winners must be present at the time of the drawing. 

The schedule for the evening includes:

2 p.m.—Gates open, vendors open for business, Mobius Strip to perform

2:30 p.m.—The Student Loans

3 p.m.—SC Alternative Strings

3:30 p.m.—Crowsons & Friends

4:30 p.m.—Southwestern College Youth Symphony

5:30 p.m.—Crowsons & Friends

6:45 p.m.—South Kansas Symphony with Larry Hatteberg from KAKE news, narrator.

The setting is informal and no seating will be provided—all audience members should bring chairs or blankets. Outside refreshments are welcome but vendors will sell onsite meals, snacks and drinks.

Free transport from the parking area to the footpaths near the event area will run during and after the performances.
