The Community Music School at Southwestern College will be hosting guest artist Kenneth Clymer for a vocal masterclass from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 23, in the rehearsal hall of the Darbeth Fine Arts Center on the campus of Southwestern College.  Clymer will also perform a recital that evening at 7:30 p.m., in the Richardson Performing Arts Center.  Both events are open to the public and there is no admission charge.

“Mr. Clymer is a phenomenal vocal talent that I had the privilege of singing alongside at Wichita Grand Opera,” says Dylan Moore, Community Music School director.  “Beyond that, he is a truly wonderful person to have known in the start of my professional career.”

Tenor Kenneth Clymer received a master of music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He had the honor of singing as a resident artist at the Wichita Grand Opera in 2013, where he understudied the role of Otello. He was a member of the Fort Worth Opera Festival chorus in Rossini’s “Cenerentola,” Bizet’s “Carmen,” and as solo inmate in Jake Heggie’s “Dead Man Walking.” He also has appeared in Fort Worth Opera productions of Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor,” Puccini’s “Turandot,” Menotti’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors,” and several other productions.

At the University of Texas at Arlington, he obtained his bachelor of music degree, performed roles such as Tamino in Mozart’s “Magic Flute,” and was the winner of the Dallas-Fort Worth area NATS Division X Classical Vocal Competition.

Deborah Martin, a sophomore piano instructor at the Community Music School, will be accompanying Clymer on the recital.  She was the bronze medalist of the 2013 Kansas Music Teachers Association freshman/sophomore piano competition.
