Southwestern College Professional Studies has been included as one of the top 50 most popular colleges among active-duty servicemen and women that used tuition assistance in fiscal 2009.
           
Last year, more than 350,000 service members found time to pursue a certificate or degree using tuition assistance from their service’s voluntary education program.
           
According to “Military Times Edge” magazine, these learners enrolled in courses at approximately 2,100 individual universities, state educational systems, and training corporations.  But the majority of troops attended just a handful of schools.  Fifty institutions account for almost 79% of students using tuition assistance.

Our goal is to do whatever we can to help our servicemen and women achieve their higher education goals and being recognized in this list says to us that we are doing just that.”
           
This is the third year in a row that Southwestern College Professional Studies has been included on the list. It is the only Kansas educational institution represented.
