GUIDELINES AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USING AI RESOURCES

Use these guidelines to help you with your job and internship searches, resume building, and professional and personal development.
  • Beware: AI is not always accurate. AI tools are drawing from data that can be outdated or inaccurate, carefully review the material before using it.
  • AI is biased.AI is trained by a human therefor, it has biases and the training data comes from a variety of sources and those can be untrustworthy. Once again be careful with the information you use.
  • Do NOT share personal information.Any data you share will be used for further training of the AI tools, do not share any personal or proprietary data.
  • AI is meant to be conversational.Don't accept your first response, keep asking prompts and asking follow-up questions to get better results. Consider your audience and what results you are wanting to get out from your prompts.
  • Always start with your own work.AI is a tool to improve your work - not to DO your work. Do not just copy and paste what you get back as a response, use it to brainstorm and to enhance your drafts. Without additional prompts AI will give you generic answers not necessarily the correct answer.
  • Always follow guidelines from employers, schools, or your department. Each entity you work with may have specific guidelines you need to follow when it comes to using generative AI, look into these guidelines before you start using it to help you with your work.
