Full-Tuition Moundbuilder Spirit Scholarships Being Offered

Southwestern College is now accepting applications for the Moundbuilder Spirit Scholarships. The college will award two full-tuition scholarships to first-year students enrolling for fall 2024.

The Moundbuilder Spirit Scholarship recognizes two student leaders who are well-rounded, considerate, hardworking, and community-minded. This scholarship is awarded to extraordinary people who exhibit great potential.

“To tell a member of the Southwestern College community that they exhibit the 'Builder Spirit' is a meaningful compliment,” says Stephannie DeLong, vice president for enrollment management.  “It is a point of pride to uphold and live out the tenets that are valued by our campus community.”

It is recommended that students who make application for this award exhibit a clear dedication to the community and a relentless work ethic.

“Southwestern College is proud to honor students who do the right thing, who are kind, who are resourceful and eager, and who will exemplify the values of Southwestern College by awarding them full undergraduate tuition, renewable for four years, if certain criteria are met,” DeLong says.

Finalists will receive invitations to participate in the competition.  The competition consists of a timed essay and an interview with faculty/staff members.  Each finalist who competes will receive a renewable $1,000 scholarship.  Two finalists will be selected, based on the outcome of the essay and interview, to receive a renewable full-tuition scholarship for four years. The two scholarships are valued at approximately $150,000 each over four years.

To be considered for the Moundbuilder Spirit Scholarship students must have submitted both their application for admission and scholarship applications by January 15.
