Raquel Resendiz and Ashleigh Hollis Join the Staff at Southwestern College

Southwestern College has announced two former Moundbuilders have joined the staff. Raquel Resendiz is director of campus life and Ashleigh Hollis is director of annual giving and alumni engagement.

Raquel ResendizResendiz was born in El Paso, Texas, but grew up in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. Mexico.  She graduated from Southwestern College as a Salutatorian, majoring in business administration and a minor in Leadership. She had previously worked for the Greater Wichita YMCA, where she started as a Philanthropy Assistant and ended as the Membership Director of Newton YMCA.

“During my time at the YMCA, I learned the importance of seeking a holistic health (physically, mentally, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually),” Resendiz says.  “I continuously try to improve in those areas, and my hope is to influence students and co-workers in those areas as well by leading through example.”

Anjaih Clemons-Williams, former director of campus life is now working as assistant registrar in the Christy Administration Building.

“Raquel is an incredible addition to our team – she has a deep love for Southwestern and for our traditions. Additionally, she has a great understanding of the diverse needs of our students and is driven to enrich their experience and connection through robust campus life programming,” said Dan Falk, vice president of student affairs, dean of students.

Ashleigh HollisHollis is the daughter of Lance and Janice Hollis and is originally from Leavenworth.  She graduated from Southwestern with a bachelors degree in business and finance in 2017 and earned a master of business administration in 2018.  After graduation, Hollis worked at Enterprise Holdings as a management trainee in Wichita and Derby. Then she worked at Bethel College as the Director of Annual Giving.

“Southwestern has always been my home,” Hollis says.  “Coming back as a staff member, not only gives me the chance to give back to the place that shaped me but allows me to reshape the narrative of my experience at SC.”

Hollis has gotten right to work planning the upcoming annual day of giving, Step Up for Southwestern, to be held on March 24, and Founders Weekend festivities which are planned for April 22-24.

“We are pleased to have Ashleigh back in the advancement office,” says Patrick Wagner, vice president of institutional advancement.  “She first joined the advancement team as a student caller and then as an office assistant before graduating with her MBA.  She brings a lot of skill to her position, but most importantly she’s a Builder who is excited about creating and strengthening connections with our alumni and friends,” said Patrick Wagner, vice president of institutional advancement.
