SC Updates Guidelines for Athletic Facilities and Events
Southwestern College has released an update to its COVID-19 guidelines for athletic facilities and events. Under the new guidelines, each uniformed Southwestern College student-athlete and coach will be allotted two family spectator passes for each contest during the Fall 2020 season.
Student attendance at competitions will be limited. The first 150 students with a valid student ID and a mask will be allowed into Jantz Stadium on game days and 75 students with an ID and mask will be allowed entry to Stewart Field House for competitions.
Visiting spectators will not be permitted for fall athletic events hosted at Southwestern College.
Because facility capacity will be limited to maintain adequate social distancing, community supporters and spectators should request game tickets in advance to ensure that their entry will be permitted. A limited number of community supporters will be permitted at the gate. Community members who would like to secure tickets ahead of athletic events may contact the Southwestern Athletics office by phone at (620) 229-6104.
Other highlights of the Southwestern athletics plan regarding spectators include:
- All individuals connected to, or in attendance of, the event agree to submit to a screening process including questions related to their current state of physical health.
- All participants, spectators, and game personnel will wear a mask or face covering and maintain appropriate social distancing (minimum of 6 feet) from others not in their immediate family unit -- before, during, and after the athletic event.
- Family groups will be allowed to sit together.
- Players participating in the contest will not be required to mask at times when they are actively involved in competition or immediately recovering, but will need to wear a mask at all other times during the event.
- Only pre-packaged concessions will be offered at Southwestern College athletic facilities.
- Only workers deemed essential for the management of the event/contest will be utilized. All event workers will be masked throughout the competition.
- The college continues to work closely with the City Cowley Health Department and is under their direct advisement regarding the guidelines for athletic competition and spectators.
