MLK Celebration

A celebration in honor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in Messenger Auditorium, Southwestern College.

The theme for the 2009 celebration is "Where Did You Come From ... Where Are You Going?" The evening will include a panel discussion of the significance of the inauguration of the first African-American president and will include audience participation.

SC students Gloria Griffin, John Badley, and Simon Madondo are leading the program.  Jeremiah Roberts and the Roberts Brothers will sing.

The Rev. Dr. Sylvia Pleas will be the wrapup speaker.

The event, sponsored by the Winfield Martin Luther King Jr. Task Force, is free and open to the public. Task force president Larry McPherson and board members invite the community to this tribute event.

Refreshments will follow the celebration.
