Roger Moon Honored by KCACTF

Roger Moon, director of theatre at Southwestern College, has been honored by the Region V Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) executive committee.

Roger Moon

Moon was recognized as the 2009 KCACTF Region V Teaching Artist of the year in directing.  Moon’s reputation and achievements as a teacher and a director were contributing factors in receiving the award, according to the KCACTF.

“This is an incredible honor,” Moon says.  “The Kennedy Center and ACTF realize that theatre teachers are artists who are creating theatre all of the time with students and with each other, and in college theatre, we artists must be teachers, too.  They are separate but related skills. I am so honored.”

With the award, Moon becomes a nominee for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts American College Theatre Festival National Teaching Artist Grants in directing.  All of the regional Teaching Artists are nominated for the award grants, which are for gifts up to $2,000 in support of professional development.
