Ponca Indian Singers and Dancers to Perform at Southwestern

The Ponca Indian singers and dancers from the Ponca Indian United Methodist Church will share their tribal song and dance for Southwestern College Summer Music Festival participants on Tuesday, June 7, from 8-9:30 p.m.  The public is invited to attend and there is no admission charge.

“This is a rare and wonderful opportunity for the Summer Music Festival participants and the public,” says Martin Rude, director of outreach ministries at Southwestern College.

Prior to the public performance, festival participants will receive instruction on the Native American drum and its significance to the people and culture of the Ponca.
The event will take place on the Cole Plaza at the bottom of the 77 Steps.

“Come bring your lawn chairs and your blankets and experience a wonderful evening with the music of the Ponca Nation,” Rude says.
