CMS to Offer Piano Classes
The Community Music School at Southwestern College has announced the start of their first piano mini-series group classes.
Two group piano classes will begin the week of Oct. 18 and last for eight weeks. The two classes target two specific audiences: one piano class will be focused towards young, beginning pianists (ages 4-17), the second is intended for adults (18 years of age and older). Registration for the two group piano classes will be Monday, Oct. 11, from 3:30 – 4:45 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 12, from 3 – 5 p.m. in the lobby of the Darbeth Fine Arts building on the campus of Southwestern College.
“Our hopes in beginning this new mini-series is to offer group piano classes to members of the community who may be interested in learning how to play the piano,” says Melissa Williamson, administrator for the Community Music School. “We would like to launch semester-long group piano classes in the spring of 2011. This is a small step to move us in that direction.”
For new students to the CMS there is a $20 commitment fee to register; the mini-series will be $88. If interested but unable to make the registration times listed above or for any other questions, contact Williamson at (620) 229-6172.
The mission of the Community Music School at Southwestern College is to nurture the fine arts community of South Central Kansas and North Central Oklahoma with rich, musical experiences for people of all ages.
