SC Jazz Concert May 1

The Southwestern College Regional Big Band and the SC Jazz Combo will perform their final concert of the year Friday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Messenger Recital Hall in Darbeth Fine Arts Center.  There is no admission charge.
Titled “A Lineage of Jazz Styles” the concert will showcase the history of jazz as both the big band and the jazz combo will chronologically perform pieces of varying jazz styles.
Selections include “Pennsylvania 6-5000,” “In the Mood,” and “American Patrol.”
The concert will also feature a new arrangement of a Pat Metheny tune titled “Unity Village.”
“This piece was arranged by our very own Scott Williams,” says Mike Jones, professor of jazz and brass at Southwestern College.  “Scott is a wonderful jazz player, writer, and arranger living in Winfield.  We are very fortunate to have such talent in our immediate community.”
