Musical Theatre Ensemble and SC Singers to Present Free Concerts

The Southwestern College music and theatre departments will be presenting two different nights of contemporary commercial music, beatboxing, and musical theatre.

The Musical Theatre Ensemble and Broadway Builders will present “Broadway Backwards” on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m., in Richardson Performing Arts Center.

“The concert will feature songs that each soloist would usually never perform due to it being of the opposite gender, race, or character type,” says Brian Winnie, director of choral activities and voice at Southwestern College.

SC Singers will present “Forward March” on Friday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m., in Messenger Recital Hall in the Darbeth Fine Arts Center. The concert will feature both group numbers and soloists performing popular contemporary songs.

“This is always a wonderful night featuring the growth of all SC vocal students over the course of this semester, with powerful belting, beat-boxing, and tight harmony,” Winnie says.

There is no admission charge for either show and the public is invited to attend.
