SC Music Department to Present Annual Winterfest Concert

The Southwestern College music department will present its annual Winterfest Concert on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 3 p.m., in the Richardson Performing Arts Center.  There is no admission charge and the public is invited to attend.

Southwestern College President Brad Andrews and his wife, Trish, will host the event.  The concert is underwritten by Dick and Joan Jones.

Winterfest is a collaboration between the South Kansas Symphony (SKS), the A Cappella Choir, and the Southwestern College Choral Union (SCCU). Conducting the musical groups are Amber Peterson, assistant professor of music and Brian Winnie, director of choral activities and voice.

The concert will feature “A Canadian Brass Christmas,” selections from Handel's “Messiah,” and a new candlelight tradition featuring music of Ola Gjelio, Eric Whitacre, and traditional carols with audience participation. The concert will end with the traditional singing of “Beautiful Savior.”
