SC Performing Arts Students and Faculty Representing at KMEA and KIO This Weekend

Starting on Thursday and going through Saturday, Southwestern College Performing Arts faculty and students will be performing and representing the college at the KMEA, Kansas Music Educators Association, conference.

Students Ashton Humbert and Matthew Porter will be performing in the KIO, Kansas Intercollegiate Orchestra. These students had to undergo an audition process to get in and they succeeded in doing so. They will work all day Thursday and Friday on music and perform on Friday evening to showcase the work they put in.

Our Performing Arts staff and a few select students will be representing Southwestern at our KMEA booth. KMEA runs from Thursday to Saturday and showcases many different things involveed in music education. There will be presentations by faculty of many different schools, performances, such as the KIO, booths that provide information about differnt teaching styles, selling products, and many more things found at this convention. Brian Winnie, choral conductor here at SC, will be presenting a workshop as well.

Over those few days, there will be very much going on for SC. We will represent our Performing Arts division with pride and show everyone what we are made of!
