South Kansas Symphony Concerto Competition Coming to Southwestern College
The South Kansas Symphony Concerto Competition is scheduled for Saturday, March 5, at Southwestern College in Winfield. The event is open to all instruments and voice. Applications must be received by Feb. 1, and there is a $25 fee application.
Participants will be split into junior and senior divisions.
The junior division is open to 12- to 18-year-old musicians from Kansas and Oklahoma or past attendees of the Cole Family Summer Music Festival. First place in the competition will earn a solo performance with the South Kansas Symphony at their April 24 concert, a $200 award, and a full scholarship to the 2016 Cole Family Summer Music Festival (June 6-11). Second place will earn $100 and a half scholarship to the Cole Family Summer Music Festival. Third place will earn $50 and a $100 scholarship to the Cole Family Summer Music Festival.
The senior division is open to Southwestern College students of any major. First place will earn $300 and a solo performance with the South Kansas Symphony at their April 24 concert. Second place will receive a $150 award.
