Cole Family Summer Music Festival Concerts at Southwestern College

Southwestern College will host several Cole Family Summer Music Festival concerts this week.  All performances are free to attend and community members are invited to any or all of the concerts.

•    Tuesday, June 9, 7:30 p.m.—Counselors will perform inside Richardson Performing Arts Center.  From as far away as Alabama and as close as Winfield, the performers will present a program in a variety of genres.   Musical theatre, classical, and jazz make up the enjoyable program demonstrating the talent of those who influence and teach the festival participants.
•    Wednesday, June 10, 7:30 p.m.— The Cole Family Summer Music Festival faculty and assistant faculty will perform a recital in the Richardson Performing Arts Center.  Stephen Butler, Jeremy Kirk, Timothy Shook, and Brian Winnie along with their faculty assistants will present solos, piano duets, and ensembles. 
•    Thursday, June 11, 7:30 p.m.— Karissa Shimanek, artist in residence, and Luke Nicolay, Southwestern College young artist in residence, will perform in the Richardson Performing Arts Center. Shimanek grew up in Arkansas City and is the daughter of Mike and Judith Shimanek.  Her residency is sponsored by George Cole.  Nicolay was chosen for the position through an audition process.  The purpose of the position is to offer a significant opportunity to a highly motivated musician, nurturing and polishing performance skills, while making the transition from student to professional. 
•    Saturday, June 13, 1:30 p.m. —All festival members of the orchestra, choir, and concert band will provide a grand performance in the Richardson Performing Arts Center to conclude the 2015 Cole Family Summer Music Festival.
